Grey Flowers

Another grey day!
Here on Bun Mountain.
Elsewhere in Blogworld, there are lovely photos of spring flowers
springing up everywhere.
Well I would be hard pushed to find any in our garden at present.
So I thought I would create some of my own floweryness
in the shape of some buns,
vanilla
and coffee,
my favourite.
I thought I had some sugar flowers to decorate them with,
but they turned out to be hearts.
Shame I didn't see them in time for Valentine's day.
Never mind they look a bit like flowers
and I teamed them with some other floweryness.

Mmmmmmm delicious!

Hi Lynne,
It's been a while since i visited you; major computerproblems overhere :( But hopefully everything is ok now ! The cakes look delicious and must give you a happy feeling :). We have to be patient with spring coming...some snowdrops are already to be seen in my garden but last night it was freezing again !! So no time to start digging already in the borders, haha. You asked me if we had been to Norway but we're going in may, :))) Looking so much forward to that...going to a concert in Oslo from the 4 gitarkameratne and staying with my blogfriend Hanne from Min Verden !!!
We are counting the days ....
Greetings from Janneke.

What fun! Your cupcakes look yummy, Lynn. There are no flowers growing here yet, either. Just a little too early yet. These grey days are good for baking treats though, aren't they. Yours look springy even if it isn't spring outside yet.

Di, the weather does do that a lot.  Just as it's getting warmer and springlike, the grey days return.

Sue, it's nice just to have the first signs of spring knowing that the flowers will soon follow.
Rosa-Munda, thanks for calling by. And thanks for your comments.
Janneke, Computer problems, we've had them here too.I love snowdrops, one of my favourites, but sadly none here yet.
Julie Isa, thanks for calling by. Glad you enjoyed the pics of the greyhounds.

Mildred, lucky you to be seeing some spring bulbs sprouting up.

Noelle, mmm, time for another baking day I think. Always comforting.

Daisy, those cupcakes tasted good as well.

Oh Lynne, your cakes look absolutely delish!!!
Starting to cool down here - yesterday morning a definite chill in the air - yay! autumn is on it's way.

Lynne, thanks for your so kind visit and comment on my little blog. Your artistry is definitely in these delicious looking (and tasting, no doubt!) buns and cakes.

Here in the States, they are putting on a series based on Alexander McCall Smith's "The No. 1Ladies Detective Agency"?

Talented jazz singer Jill Scott is the main character. It looks fantastic and I can't wait.
Ciao! Stay warm.

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your comments :) Could'nt find an email address, so getting back to you via your blog.
It is always interesting reading about day to day life in another country. Am loving the snow photos.

Here in sub-tropical Maleny it is around 20oC (8:00pm Friday night)at the moment (just looked at the temp. gauge outside on the verandah). Quite nice really. In winter it might get down to around 10oC on a really cold day. (stop laughing) I know that ten degrees is probably not THAT cold over in Sweden (you're probably swanning around in t-shirts). I like to have our wood combustion heater going - just because it is nice to have it ticking away and be cosy (and the wood smoke smells nice when you are outside in the garden - always reminds me of camping). Friends (usually from the coast) love to visit in winter, it gets a little cooler here on the range.(am always amused at the comments about how cold it is here :) The wood delivery guys know where to dump the wood (Dash even escorts them in).
Harry and I have been on holidays in New South Wales passing though a cold region near the Snowy Mountains, at a little town called Cooma. We were wondering if the temperature gauge on the Jeep went into minus degrees. We were giggling as it got colder and colder - it did - it even got down to minus 6 oC. That's the coldest temp in Australia I've experienced.

The garden stays greenish over winter, a few deciduous trees do the autumn thing and drop their leaves and are bare in the winter. Everything else is green - the lawn might be a little less green (we might get the odd frost). It just means that we don't have to mow every week like we do in summer.
Bye for now,
Sandi xx

Oh my.... they do look so good. It is about 10 p.m. and too late for a snack but I wish I had one anyway.

Thanks for hopping over the pond and visiting me. I love the comments you leave me.

I planted pansies today. I love their sweet little pansy faces. They make my patio happy. I know that you are more than ready for spring. Perhaps the snow will melt before long and spring will pop out all over. Until then... I am sending some of our sunshine to you. Hugs, Lura

Mmm... now these look like my kind of treats! And such flowery prettiness in the plate and tablecloth too.

And thank you for your lovely comments on my blog Lynne. I so appreciate them and am glad you enjoyed our little visit to the churchyard. It's such a pretty place - lots to catch the eye! I wish I could do it all better justice but I'm having such fun learning to capture what I love in the world. The colour, the texture, the pattern... So beautiful!

Hope you have a lovely weekend! x K

Now those look pretty beautiful to me! - actually, much nicer than flowers, in my present mood (starving)...

I am quite interested in the word 'bun'- they look like cupcakes to me, do you use the word bun? To me a bun is like a big round yeasty thing with maybe some raisins in - I love it how different words are used (or the same word used differently) in different parts of the world!

Hi Sandi, thanks for your comprehensive reply.  I must see about posting my e.mail.
Candace, I love Alexander McCall's No. 1 Detective Agency series.
Sarah, funny you should say that.  I've been looking up some recipes for banana bread.  I have a number of over ripe bananas.
Lura, well done for getting the pansies planted.  I love pansies.
Kendalee,  The churches here in Sweden, so far, are quite different to the ones in the UK.  Much grander affairs.  And the graveyards, very different.  All very neat and organised.  Nice in their own way.  But not with that old English country village charm we love.
Anairam, you're right of course with the term bun.  But I, (and others I think) do sometimes refer to these little cakes as buns and also Fairy cakes.  Of course we now coin the term cupcakes as well borrowed from the US?

Hello Lynne, I have just stumbled upon your blog via Blueberries, Art and Life, so thought I would introduce myself. I have enjoyed reading about your new life in Sweden, with the lovely photos, and also reading about your three lovely dogs. I too have a Greyhound, Lady. She has been a part of our family since Sept. '07, when we re-homed her from Northants Greyhound Rescue. Occasionally I have a mad moment and think it may be good to get her a friend, and then come to my senses! But I do wonder whether two would be twice as much work, or whether they would fit in well together. Lady took a long time adjusting to living in a home environment, rather than in kennels and I am reluctant to go through all that again! One thing I would like to ask you - do you ever let them run free, or do you always walk your dogs on leads? I do sometimes let Lady off her lead to run, if we are in an enclosed field, because she so loves to run, but I am quite scared that she will hurt herself, cannon into me, or get out of the field and disappear.
Looking forward to visiting you again Lynne. Helen.
