Midsummer Madness

Swedish style.

I have been away from my blogging,
and my blogging friends for too long.
So before June ends
I thought I would call in
and end my
'Blogging Block.'
Well I'm sure bloggers can suffer from a writers block as well
don't you think?

Anyway, what better way to break the drought
than to celebrate the summer.
The long sunny days.
And the long light nights.
As I sit here in Bun Mountain Cottage with 59 minutes until midnight,
it is still daylight outside.
It is amazing!
And very welcome after the long dark winter.
So no wonder the Swedes like to celebrate it.

Everywhere there are wild flowers.
Everything has grown such a lot.

I've been away a couple of times in June,
and when I returned the first time
it was to grey wet weather.
Surprisingly I was returning from a sunny UK!

The second time I went away for a few days,
I returned the morning of Midsummer celebrations.
I travelled through some torrential rain to get home,
but the photos above were taken the following day
when the sun made an appearance.
And it's been back with a vengeance ever since.
It's been so hot!
My friends in hot climes,
I sympathise with you now.
I don't know how you put up with constantly hot, hot weather.
I want to melt!
The Hounds find it hard too!

Here they are all eager to have a drink after a slow, leisurely walk .

And here Jewel is having a shower to cool her down.
Paddy has had his and is feeling happier for it.

Jewel doesn't look so happy here does she?
And sure enough,
a few days later when Mike went to get the hose,
she slipped her lead and ran off!
'Enough of that,' she thought.
But we did get her back.
Mike had to go and collect her,
from our neighbour,
who kindly rang to say that she was up at her house frightening all the cats!

Well Mike is off on his travels tomorrow for 2 weeks.
So I expect to be on the computer more regularly.
Except he's taking the camera with him!
Well we'll see what tomorrow brings.
I do have some photos from my travels.
Perhaps we'll have a look at some of them.

Thank you to all of you who have enquired after me.
Maybe I'll have some explanations tomorrow.

Hi Lynne!
Glad to see you back! Midsummer looks like fun in Sweden. As usual I love your photos of your dogs! Hope your travels were good. It is sweltering here at the moment-like Spain!
Take care,
Sarah x

Yes, you have been away too long! We missed you, but loved reading about your midsummer festivites where you are.

We had a heat wave here in Indiana, but it FINALLY broke. This weekend (for our 4th of July) should be lovely.

Loved to see all your pictures! Take care of your hounds...they look like, "where is the snow???"

I have started a new blog...but I am the Sue that you have conversed with at "love His appearing", just in case you got confused.

Enjoy your daylight and warm weather and all that accompanies it!

welcome back lynne, great pictures of the dogs. It is so hot here i clipped all my dogs hair off and she had a shower and i think she is much happier now. The poor horse is plagued by horse flies so he has a fly rug on which also helps to keep him cool, he also had a shower this morning, he loved it!be back soon to see more photos of your trips x x

Hi Lynne, welcome back! I'm loving the sunny and hot weather we're enjoying in the UK - long may it continue! :) Lovely to see your Midsummer festivities...

Great that you are back again! The Midsummer festivities would be so much fun!
Looks like you (and the dogs) are enjoying springtime over there. The countryside must look greener now that everything is growing. Loved the wildflower meadow photo.

Hi Lynne! Good to see you posting on your blog again. :)

Great pictures! I especially like the one of the little girl in the bright yellow dress. Looks like a lot of fun there. Hope you are keeping cool!

Hi Lynne! Good to see you back again. Your travels sound interesting. I remember Midsummer when we lived in Sweden. It was a fun celebration. I loved the short days in winter as I found it fun to put candles on and enjoy the atmosphere. I long now for some relief from this hot and humid weather.

Hugs ~

I love Greyhounds, and Hugo is always talking about getting one! Yours are beautiful, so graceful. It's a magical thing when they run full pelt, isn't it?
Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)
