Just Five Months

These pictures of Rufus and Jess
were taken a couple of weeks ago.
I remember thinking that they reminded me of a Pushmepullyou.

I don't remember being unduly worried about Rufus then,
and yet I think it was about that time that we started having concerns about him.
He had developed a limp.
Similiar to Jewel.

Yesterday, a visit to the vet
confirmed, that like Jewel,
Rufus has bone cancer.

At the moment I'm typing this using one hand.
My other hand is continually stroking Rufus
as he lies next to me on the sofa.
He doesn't like me to take my hand away from him.

Poor lad, so strong and robust.
I think at the moment we are feeling a bit stunned by the news.
In only just over 5 months,
we are looking at losing another of our dear greyhounds.

You know Lynne, I meant to email you back and say how sorry I was about Rufus and I didn't-so sorry and so sorry to hear about your poor lovely dog. It does not seem fair when these things happen. We are so lucky to have lovely animals in our lives and it is almost unbearable to think of losing them. x

I'm so very sorry, Lynne. I am stunned also. How very heartbreaking for you and Mike; please hug Rufus close for me, also. Sending my love to you all.

Oh no, this is so sad. Enjoy every second you have together and let him live for the rest of his life.
I recently found a blog with beautiful pictures only to read a few days later about the dog having been diagnosed with bone cancer. The treatment seems to go well so far and I like the attitude. You might check it out at http://romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com/

Oh Lynne, I am so very sorry ... huge hugs to you all, and a very gentle earpull for Rufus (I'm guessing greys enjoy those just as much as whippets :D )

I have been off line recently, but I am so sorry to learn this. It is devastating to loose a pet and it must be terrible to know yet another one is facing this terrible disease.:(( Sending you lots of warm thoughts and hugs,
xoxo
