Shopping Trip

Mike is away today and tomorrow,
with the camera.
So I thought I would show you photos I took yesterday.

I think it was one of the nicest days so far this year.
We took our morning walk with the hounds.
But crossed over to the other side of the river.
In the photo above
you can see ours and the neighbouring village.
It looks like one long village but in fact is separated by

In the photo below
we're looking across the river to where I took you on the walk
through the woods
with all the fallen trees.
You can see at the top it's quite flat.
Some of it is covered with woodland,
and some of it is given over to agriculture.
Either way it's home to deer
and other animals.

Later in the day,
we took a drive a few miles down river.
Mike had someone to see
while I checked out the shopping centre.
The shopping centre consists of a large supermarket
and one or two other outlets.
I spent most of the time in the supermarket,
and most of that time
looking at the Easter goodies.

There were lots of chocolates.
Different shapes, sizes
and clolours.

I've noticed how the shops in Germany caters for the seasons.
In October there were lots of decorations for houses
for Halloween.
It's the same now for Easter.
Decorations for doors, windows,
tables.
They looked lovely.

I took photos of just two of these displays,
but there were more,
I just didn't want to draw attention to myself.
Not that there were that many people around.

Our usual shopping trips are to the local supermarkets,
of which there is a choice.
But this one is larger
and therefore has more choice.
It was different.
I think I'll come here to do the regular shop
every now and then,
just for a change,
and to see what their latest seasonal promotions are.

Shopping and Flowers

Or shopping for flowers?

I took a trip to town yesterday.
I needed to return my library books.
And I came back with these.
We needed a bit of colour.

It was a dull day,
and even a bit rainy,

This is a display outside one of the florists shops.
The florists are always worth a look inside.

We find the shops tend open later here.

In the UK they are often open at 8.a.m. or 9.a.m.

That is if they're not open 24 hours!

It is possible to go into town and do a circular route round the lake.
Very pretty.
I'll try and capture this view on a sunny day!

Well I've found a sunny place for these two.

Is this one okay here?

Woodpecker Watching

Today we went shopping.

As we both went, the dogs came too. When we got nearly to town, we stopped to take a walk with them.

Mike heard a tapping of a woodpecker so we took a few steps back to see where he was.

And there he was on the telegraph pole we had just passed, tapping merrily away.

He didn't seem to mind us.

He stopped to take a look at who was looking at him though.

Jewel had seen him.

And so had Rufus, but not Paddy!

A bit further on, I saw some fungi growing high up on a tree.

I've never seen them growing that high in a tree before.

It was a shame that the sun wasn't shining, but the views were still nice.

I've spotted this rowan tree before and wanted a picture of it as it's so laden with deep red berries. It looked more spectacular in the sunshine last week.

But the birds don't mind what it looks like. As long as the berries taste nice. I think this is a blackbird, it was difficult to see it clearly. There was another bird too, not sure what kind, not one I was familiar with. But it flew off when I went over to take a picture.

After that, we went shopping.
