Getting Closer

Isn't it funny (or maybe not), how, as a special event approaches, such as Christmas, the days seem to concertina? So we are left thinking where has the time gone?

For me, this year I don't have so much to do. At least that's what I started out thinking, then I keep adding on things to do, and before you know it... same as always, too much to do in too little time!

There's just the two of us for Christmas dinner.
Ooops sorry,
five!
The three hounds will be having their share although they won't be sitting down to eat with us. Unless my husband has other plans!

We've had the Christmas decorations up for a while but only got the tree this week. Mike cut it down from behind our barn. He couldn't do it any earlier as there was too much snow, he couldn't see what he would be cutting! As it was the tree had to thaw on some towels to catch all the snow and ice melting off it before I could put the tinsel and baubles on it.

I made some mincepies. I often make them on Christmas Eve as I listen to the carol service on BBC Radio 4. But I made enough to eat some now, and the rest are in the freezer.

In the Uk we always celebrate Christmas on 25th, but here in Sweden the main day is Christmas Eve 24th. Mike and I will sit down together for our Christmas dinner on 25th.

Some of us can just carry on taking it easy until then!

Rufus

I love hearing about your plans. The tree is lovely and I wish I had one of those pies. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi Lynne. I'm happy to meet you. Thank you for coming by and leaving kind thoughts. I do miss my Bailey girl but I know she is in a better place. It will be strange not having her here for the holidays though. I love all your decorations and Rufus is precious. I literally lol and am smiling as I type this.
I've never had mincepies. I may have to try some one day.
Enjoy your day and lets visit each other again soon. Merry Christmas!

Thank you Rechelle. I have already introduced one of our Swedish friends to mincepies. I'm glad Rufus made you smile.

Your dog is funny-my cat gets into similar poses-they have a hard life don't they?! I have got a book about gnomes in which the pictures are the little gnome and his wife that you have-I haven't looked at it for years-I will get it down in a minute.
Thanks for your kind comment about my doll. We finished school today. After the Christmas play(which went well)we have had class parties(everything has to be done twice for morning and afternoon children), secret santa and carols with the staff, Christmas dinner with the kids, The X-factor, school style, and treating ourselves to lunch at the cafe today! It has all been lovely but I am really pleased it's the holiday!
Have fun over Christmas!
Sarah :)

Fancy you having a book with pictures of my gnomes! Sounds as though you have had a busy time at school, you will be glad of the break.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for your visit ! Ofcourse i want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!! Or in dutch:
Prettige Kerstdagen en een Gelukkig Nieuwjaar !!
A few times we brought home mince-pies when we had visited the UK at the end of the year....we all love them overhere !! There is nothing like that, that you can get overhere. So i have a question....do you have a recipe for me to make them ?? Maybe if it is not to much trouble could you sent me the recipe ?? I could give you my e-mail adress for it.
It would be nice to hear from you :)
Groetjes, Janneke.

The window scene with the candles and the snow outside is so beautiful. It reminds me of a Christmas card.

mince pies!- I have eaten so many this year- I am the only one who likes them so I get all of them! We also have marionberry and pumpkin so no body is short changed over pie eating! Your snow is lovely- ours is now being rained into the ground, back to the ususal.
Happy New Year!

Linda Sue, I love mincepies too, but I'm rationing myself so I don't overdo it and get indigestion! I haven't heard of marionberry, sounds interesting.
