Stitch, Stitchin Away

I may have been away from my blog for a week or so
but not my stitching.
Far from it.
My hexagon quilt has taken over.
Every spare moment is taken up with hand sewing
the hexagons together.
The diamonds are all stitched together
as can be seen from the photo above.
I held it while Mike took the photo
just to show you that they are indeed all stitched together.
The photo was taken last week
and a dark green border of hexagons completely surround the diamonds now.
Next I will start filling in the gaps with rosettes.
It keeps me occupied while Mike is away.
He's been away in the UK for a week now.
So I am the sole looker afterer
of the Hounds!
In return for keeping me company.
In fact we have just come back from a walk.
We went by car first of all out of the village.
But everywhere is a bit muddy
and when they got back in the car
it was with muddy paws.
Oooops!
I then decided to have a short drive along the river.
Once again the river has flooded over it's banks.
It's done this a few times already this winter.
The photos below were taken on Boxing Day.
It's similiar to that now but without the sunshine.

Yesterday, I got a lovely surprise when I visited the Quilt Along blog of which I'm a member.
I discovered that I was the winner of a giveaway
a lovely book
on quilting of course.
So I am anticipating it's arrival.
Something to look forward to.

With a bit of luck
I may be as lucky with Noelle's giveaway.
She makes the loveliest of felt houses.
Do take a look.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Your quilt is lovely, Lynne. You have really made great progress on it.

Wow the water is pretty high in those pictures. I can see how it might leave things a bit muddy.

It's nice the hounds are there to keep you company while your husband is away. Hope you have a nice weekend!

Gosh, Lynne... what a super patient soul you are! I don't think I could ever do a quilt like that... so beautiful but I just don't have the patience! (yet I can sit and knit, one stitch at a time, for hours... go figure!)

Your quilt is lovely.
Hope the hounds are keeping you company - I can't go outside now without the hens running around after me - it's so funny - I think I am their " Mom " !

Love the quilt, Lynne.

I know I am a rubbish blogger but I've popped across just to say "hello". How was your trip to Carlisle? How is your German coming along? (Probably excellent by now.)

Just to let you know that I am finally getting round to writing up some stories about how we got to be at the B&B etc.

Thanks for your great comments and feedback during last year. They helped me when I was going through a really bad time.

Luckily I think that 2010 is going to be a lot nicer to us... :)

Your quilt is lookin good Lynne! I know what you mean about muddy paws, our fields are very soft under foot, particularly the gateways. Our favourite walk is also a bridleway, so it gets very poached. Lovely photos, it does look like a beautiful place.

Thanks for your interest in the granny square swap. As of right now I have not determined if there will be any stipulations. I like the idea of seeing what everyone creates. I have had suggestions on maybe doing a certain size so once the sign ups are over I will send out an email with more details.

Wow, I can see why you're with me on the hexies! I'm so impressed by your work there. I can't imagine how long it's going to take me to make something like that. It's taken me 3 weeks to remember that I want to iron a few bits of fabric to take downstairs so I can sit in the evening and gently stitch.
Ahem!
Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog. Nice to meet you! Come again soon

I am in awe of your quilting prowess Lynne! It is beautiful! It must feel so good to finish something like that. I love the green contrasting with the paler diamonds. Hope you had a good walk!

Your quilt is coming along nicely. You must be so proud of your progress. I've finally finished moving the hexes on my charity shop patchwork. It's now a nice rectangle. Just not sure how I'm going to edge it with the bits of fabric in my stash.

Loving it, I am so envious of your quilting

Oh dear - I recently got out my hexagon quilt, had a look - and put it away again!! I must do something with it - perhaps cut it up and use the pieces for something else?
