Fish in a Jumper

This morning was lovely and sunny, too nice to be indoors, so my sister and I took a short walk with our cameras.

We walked as far as the river, which isn't very far at all, and admired the views from the bridge.

My sister spotted a dipper. I took this photo on full zoom, which isn't enough to show the bird up well. My sister's camera captured it better with it's bigger zoom. It was lovely to watch the bird diving into the water and swimming around.

Then I spotted this fish beneath us on the bridge. It was just keeping it's place in the river with very little effort against the current. It looked most peculiar, as from our position above, it looked to me as though it was wearing a jumper. It's head and tail were pale while the rest of its body was dark. It was probably a salmon, a big one too.

There's plenty of leaves left on the trees.

There are still flowers to be seen too.

Altogether, a morning to brighten the spirits.

Blogtoberfest~ Peeping

I've been so busy sorting through photos this evening,

that I very nearly forgot to post something for today!

So I downloaded today's photos

and looked back at yesterday's

These were taken yesterday afternoon.

The sun was shining

and it was lovely.

We took a couple of trail motor bikes for a spin.

In the photo below you can see the trail we came along.

It goes through the woods for part of the way.

And from where I took these photos,

if I had turned round,

I would have been looking down on the river.

But it didn't make for a good photo as there was a big fence in the way.

Or more to the point, I didn't have time to faff around

trying to get a shot between the wires

as Mike was waiting for me.

We were trying out a digital camcorder

and using it with the bikes.

But I think it will be good to film the hounds when they are running

and I can post it on here and show you!

This is where we usually let the hounds have a run,

it's along by the river.

The next two photos are from this afternoon

when we took the hounds out for their walk.

We had to shelter in a chapel when the rain came down.

Paddy and Arthur are wondering whether the rain has stopped.

The chapel is only small and the front is completely open.

I must show you a better photograph of it someday.

The last photo is taken peeping out from the chapel to see how the weather is doing.

Trees

Today has been a lovely sunshiny day.

Just like spring.

Jewel enjoyed being out on the balcony.

She likes to sunbathe!

And I managed to take those pictures

I didn't get round to yesterday.

There were even more flowers out today,

bigger

and brighter.

I got to ride my bike as well.

It's an age since I've been out on a bike.

Mike went and collected this one from the UK

a few weeks back,

just so's I can go out on it

with the camera,

and get more photos!

Although today was sunny,

it was still cool,

especially on my hands.

In fact when we got back,

I was very, very cold!

I had to warm up with a cup of tea,

and a piece of cake I'd made at the weekend.

I'll have to do the same journey again and take the camera with me

especially so I can show you the views.

Stunning,

even with the landscape as bare as it is at the moment.

Once I'd warmed up,

it was time to take the hounds out for their walk.

It entailed a drive to get to where we were yesterday.

Jewel and Arthur spent the whole way there standing up.

Mostly peering out the windscreen.

Which meant hot doggy breath

over our shoulders.

Mmmmm....

nice!

Jewel is the one with the beady eyes.

Arthur is spreading his hot breath around!

But he's happy.

Mike sorted the hounds out while I took some photos.

I made sure I took plenty,especially for Mildred,

who  asked to see our walk,

which I am more than happy to do.

Already at the start of our walk

you can see trees that were brought down in the gales at the weekend.

It's happened all over.

In some places trees

have had to be cleared from minor roads,

such as where we took the bikes earlier.

The road was closed to cars

but we got by on our bikes.

In fact

when I took some of the photos for my grey post

at the weekend,

it was quite scary.

The wind in the trees was very,

very,

noisy at times.

Even the hounds were looking up to see what was making the noise.

But today the skies were blue.

We set off in one direction

across open land.

We are on a plateau here,

above the valley

so you can see for miles.

But as we walked on,

the track became muddy,

and no matter which way we turned,

trees blocked the tracks.

Mike is trying to find a way through here,

as I gaze upwards,

at the blue sky.

So we turn back the way we've just come.

But the walk didn't stop here.

We continued on.

But for the rest of the walk,

you'll have to call back tomorrow.

It's gone past my bedtime.

And I need my beauty sleep.
