Swan Update

Before Easter I had to have some emergency dental treatment,
I had toothache!
Yesterday I went to pay the bill.
I took my camera,
as I knew that before Easter they had this lovely little display outside the door.
I had taken my camera on an earlier visit, but the batteries had given up,
so I was hoping that it was still there.
It was!

On the way to the dentist
I stopped by to see how the swans are doing.

Obligingly she was rearranging her eggs when I arrived,
and I got a photo of them.
There's three at least.

They have their own little fan club.

This last photo shows one of the holiday cruise ships
that frequent the river.
Bernkastel seems to be one of their stops.
It's a lovely way to see the river.
I don't think the swan is very impressed with it though.

Enjoy your weekend.

Funny Bunnys

Just stopped by with some Easter Bunnies to wish you all a Happy, Hoppy Easter!

This morning I set off to go swimming,
only to get there and find the pool was closed.
I half expected it,
but luckily,
I took my camera with me
and stopped off a couple of times
to take some pictures before returning home.

These weren't the photos I took though!
I was just messing about with these this afternoon.
Then I had a go at putting them on Blogger.

I had trouble trying to upload some photos onto Blogger last week.
So I'm afraid I just gave up.
But I have been taking photos most days.

I haven't been spending much time on the computer lately.
For two reasons I suppose.
One, it's been very hot here.
And it seems wrong to sit inside on the computer
on beautiful, sunny hot days.
But it feels right
to sit on the balcony,
in the shade reading a book.
I've been reading 3 books since I last posted on here.
I've been engrossed with the Stieg Larsson Millenium trilogy.
It starts with 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.'
And it just took over my waking hours.
But now they're finished
and I've run out of books to read.
So I must get all those photos sorted
and start posting them on here.
Hope you all had a lovely Easter.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Me, I'm staying at my sister's
with her family.

It's been dull most of the day
here in Cumbria.
But the sun did get out eventually at about five o'clock.

So me and my sister took ourselves off for a walk.
What a difference,
there's actually flowers blooming outside.
When did they appear?
Daffodils and tulips flowering together.
I seem to think that the daffodils usually arrive before the tulips.

I always like to stop and look back at this row of cottages.

And then stop a bit further up the hill
and look over towards the east.

Lovely blue sky.
Maybe you can just see a bit of snow over there on the Pennines.

Earlier in the week
we took ourselves off into the Lake District
just after it had been snowing.
I'll have to show you the photos I took.
So pretty.

Meanwhile here are two photos
that I took of a window display in Keswick.
I always take the opportunity to visit this shop when I can.

And until I get back to show you those photos,
do help yourself to a chocolate
or two.
These are all the way from Germany.
I just didn't get round to
posting them here before I left.

Shopping Trip

Mike is away today and tomorrow,
with the camera.
So I thought I would show you photos I took yesterday.

I think it was one of the nicest days so far this year.
We took our morning walk with the hounds.
But crossed over to the other side of the river.
In the photo above
you can see ours and the neighbouring village.
It looks like one long village but in fact is separated by

In the photo below
we're looking across the river to where I took you on the walk
through the woods
with all the fallen trees.
You can see at the top it's quite flat.
Some of it is covered with woodland,
and some of it is given over to agriculture.
Either way it's home to deer
and other animals.

Later in the day,
we took a drive a few miles down river.
Mike had someone to see
while I checked out the shopping centre.
The shopping centre consists of a large supermarket
and one or two other outlets.
I spent most of the time in the supermarket,
and most of that time
looking at the Easter goodies.

There were lots of chocolates.
Different shapes, sizes
and clolours.

I've noticed how the shops in Germany caters for the seasons.
In October there were lots of decorations for houses
for Halloween.
It's the same now for Easter.
Decorations for doors, windows,
tables.
They looked lovely.

I took photos of just two of these displays,
but there were more,
I just didn't want to draw attention to myself.
Not that there were that many people around.

Our usual shopping trips are to the local supermarkets,
of which there is a choice.
But this one is larger
and therefore has more choice.
It was different.
I think I'll come here to do the regular shop
every now and then,
just for a change,
and to see what their latest seasonal promotions are.

Wellie Weather

http://bunmountainblogspot.com/2008/05/procrastination-formally-over-html

Despite the weather being glorious these last few days,
it is still very wet underfoot.
So I have swopped my snowboots for my wellingtons!
Even the hounds seem to tiptoe over the soft squidgy parts of the garden which should be lawn. It looks horrible as well,
all brown and gloopy.
So even if the camera was working
I doubt whether I would take a photo of it.

Normally we would be celebrating Easter with an egg hunt for the children.

I love it when we can have the egg hunt outside.

The spring flowers make a good hiding place.
But this year it's just Mike and I, and the hounds of course.

But here are some photos from the two previous Easters spent with the family.

These photos were taken in 2007 when my sister and her family came for their first visit to Sweden. It was a memorable occasion but for the wrong reasons. (As the link does not work you would have to look back to May 2008.)
But we had an egg hunt with lots of small eggs to find.

It is a tradition in Sweden to decorate trees or bushes with brightly coloured feathers.
So I decorated some of our shrubs.

I also decorated some twigs with eggs and feathers and put them in a pot on the terrace.

This is a photo from Easter last year.
I took my daughter, grandson and his dad over to my sisters where we had an Easter egg hunt in her garden.
We collected the eggs in a Hallowean bucket!

A Happy Easter weekend to you.
