Blogtoberfest Day 11, High in the Sky

As I was talking about paragliding at the weekend,
I thought I would dig out some photos from the summer.
The photos shown here were taken in the middle of July.
We were out for a walk
across the other side of the river.
As usual, we were walking the hounds.
We took a path down through some trees
which opened out into a field.
It was very steep as you can see from the photo above.

It was the place where the paragliders
take off from.
And we were lucky that it was being used.
We sat for a while
watching them get ready.
It was very quiet,
and calm.

It was interesting watching them take off.
They would wait for ages.
I think it was for the conditions to be right.

Just before taking off they would face backwards
and the shute, for want of a better word,
would lift up,
then they would turn and they would just lift off.
Easy!

It all looked so effortless.

Also very technical
as they have a load of technical gizmoes strapped to them as well.

The views must be absolutely spectacular.

Look how steep it is.

On the opposite side of the river you can see our village,
and our house somewhere.
There's also a funfair.
It was part of the village wine festival.

I think it would be great to have the nerve
and have a go at it.

They were still taking off as we left.

Pop on over to Tinnie Girl for some more Blogtoberfest fun.

What neat pictures, Lynne. I liked getting to see those. Very interesting. I wouldn't have the nerve to do that myself, but it was fun to watch them do it. :)

Beautiful views of the valley.;) I just simply could not go paragliding, even though it must be a fantastic feeling to almost "fly".;)
